A beautiful example of Filipino folk art, this piece is a takaan, a wooden sculpture used as a mold for the craft of taka. Originating in Paete, Laguna, Philippines, this traditional artform involves layering paper strips over the takaan. Often a reflection of the local environment and culture, these papier-mâché figures are then hand painted.
